FIRM is Hosting Hurricane Readiness & Response Forums
FIRM is conducting two “Hurricane and Readiness Response Forums” to address such topics as wind and flood mitigation methods, insurance claims assistance, Flood Risk Evaluation, and hurricane preparedness.
The first forum is on June 12 in the BOCC Chambers at the Marathon Government Center, 2798 Overseas Highway, and the second is on June 13 at Boondocks, MM 27. Both forums are from 5:30-7:30 pm and are free to the public thanks to a grant from the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys.
Why Our Workshops Focus on Insurance Recovery
When we started holding our free Irma Recovery Workshops right after the storm, we brought together as many sources of helpful information as we could – FEMA, SBA, FIRM, local government, public adjusters, and attorneys. But, we found that people were starting to get frustrated at the government aspect of the meetings and preferred a more real-time help, hands-on approach.
People just want to get back into their homes, and do so without a fight. We realized that the biggest obstacle most homeowners are facing is insurance money.
