When we started holding our free Irma Recovery Workshops right after the storm, we brought together as many sources of helpful information as we could – FEMA, SBA, FIRM, local government, public adjusters, and attorneys. But, we found that people were starting to get frustrated at the government aspect of the meetings and preferred a more real-time help, hands-on approach.
People just want to get back into their homes, and do so without a fight. We realized that the biggest obstacle most homeowners are facing is insurance money. So we turned our meetings into intimate community workshops led by a vetted insurance recovery expert. A place where residents can get share stories, get neighborly advice, and what’s been most helpful of all – get free one-on-one help with their individual insurance problem.
To do this, we have aligned with insurance recovery expert Kenneth Browne. At first, we were reluctant to focus on insurance, let alone to team up with one particular expert. But, from first-hand experience with his service, and now, from months of testimonials from previous workshop attendees, we are sure of this decision. It is only because of his expertise that we have been able to help so many. It helps that he is not only a veteran public adjuster, but a mediator and appraiser as well, so his knowledge covers the gamut of your potential questions.
We have also recognized the need for expert attorney assistance at our workshops for those who have exhausted the public adjuster route. To that end, we have vetted several attorneys and law firms. We have found one that specializes in disaster claim recovery – Merlin Law Group – and who often has an attorney present to answer questions at our events.
If you are still having insurance problems, please join us at our next workshop: Saturday, May 5th, from 11 to 1 at Keys Community Church’s new location, mm 30.5 in Big Pine Key.
We hold 3 to 4 insurance workshops a month, and we publish notifications about recovery events held by other Long Term Recovery Groups. Follow Us on Facebook at facebook.com/allkeyslocals to get notified, or view the Irma Recovery Event Calendar.
Though we focus on insurance recovery workshops, our group’s strength is getting the word out in the community to the people who need it – be it radio, paper, social media, internet, email, or good ‘ol fashioned word-of-mouth. So, whether you are in need or you can solve a need, please reach out – help us connect as many dots as we can!
